Ernesto Del Valle Hernandez, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon who joined AdventHealth for Children in Orlando from Southwest Florida, where he was part of a respected private practice that specializes in caring for children with broken bones, growth plate injuries, sports injuries, spinal and limb deformities, neuromuscular disorders, bone and joint infections and more. He has received special certifications in fracture management and minimally invasive treatment for traumatic injury, and he is fluent in English and Spanish.

Oduche Igboechi, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He also earned his master’s in public health and business administration and then completed his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Igboechi is dedicated to providing high-quality care for his patients through educating them and their families. He aims to create individualized treatment plans for each patient.

Katerina Backus, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified American Academy of Pediatrics and sports medicine physician with the AdventHealth for Children Pediatric Orthopedics team. She is one of only a few select physicians to have achieved a patient satisfaction rating in the 99th percentile from surveys conducted by Press Ganey. Her specialties include pediatric sports injuries, nonoperative musculoskeletal injuries, pediatric diseases affecting kids' mobility, and concussion management.

Raymund Woo, MD, is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating children with deformities of the spine and limbs as well as growth plate injuries, neuromuscular disorders, neurofibromatosis and a variety of sports injuries. As a father himself, he is supremely attuned to parents' concerns about their children's health care and places a strong emphasis on good communication with both patients and their caregivers. Dr. Woo is the only doctor in Florida specialized in robotic-assisted scoliosis spinal surgery in children, and he has developed techniques in pediatric scoliosis surgery that are used worldwide.

Maureen Maciel, MD, is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Maciel received her medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical School and went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Ohio State University and a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children. A highly experienced clinician, Dr. Maciel served as an assistant professor at the University of South Florida in the department of orthopedic and sports medicine for more than 14 years.

Sean Keyes, DO, is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon with advanced training in pediatric orthopedic surgery and sports medicine from Cincinnati Children's Medical Center. Dr. Keyes received his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Ohio. He is involved in the treatment of athletes on various levels but specializes in helping pediatric and adolescent athletes. He is aware of the increasingly competitive nature and pressures our growing kids are under and remains on the cutting edge for surgical techniques.

AdventHealth for Children is an extensive pediatric care network that includes pediatricians, 250+ pediatric specialists practicing 35 pediatric specialties, regional specialty clinics, pediatric emergency departments and Centra Care Kids urgent care locations.

Across Central and West Florida, there are more than 300 dedicated pediatric beds, with 200 of them located at the tertiary children’s hospital in Orlando. Dedicated ambulances and a helicopter provide emergency transfers and are staffed with a highly trained PICU and NICU transport team that supports all AdventHealth Florida locations as well as regional and community hospitals that need access to our pediatric services.

Our health navigators are specially trained nurses here to assist you with all of your family's health care needs. They help to make life easier for our patients through expert clinical assistance and educational, emotional and spiritual support. All calls are confidential, anyone can self-refer and insurance is not required to talk or meet.

Our children's health navigators can answer your questions and help coordinate your child's care, assisting you with:

  • Finding a care provider
  • Answering your health care questions
  • Assistance with scheduling annual office visits and screenings
  • Resources and support for you and your family
  • Coordination of care among multiple providers and facilities
