Mark Crider, MD, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and part of the academic practice at Loch Haven OB/GYN. He received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and completed his residency at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Crider specializes in infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, minimally invasive gynecological surgery, and normal and high-risk pregnancies. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Crider is also a celebrated infertility researcher.

Gargey Patil, MD, is an award-winning OB-GYN physician with over 15 years of experience. He serves as the Assistant Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the AdventHealth Graduate Education Program. Dr. Patil received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University Hospital, where he won the Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia's Resident Bowl Award. Dr. Patil extends his medical expertise to students by serving as a long-standing member of the clinical faculty at Florida State College of Medicine.

Varsha Ramnarine, MD, is a board-eligible OB/GYN whose outstanding credentials include residency training at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York where she served as Chief Resident. During that time, she also served as the Sepsis Committee OBGYN team leader, received the Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and earned the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Residency Program Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. Dr. Ramnarine’s interests include the study of salpingectomy for sterilization and neonatal outcomes in pregnancies complicated by diabetes.

Michelle Burton, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife who specializes in providing labor support to mothers, postpartum care to both mothers and their babies, and lactation support. Prior to becoming a midwife, she practiced in labor and delivery for nine years. After graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies, Michelle went on to earn a Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. She is a past recipient of the AdventHealth Nursing Excellence in Perinatal Nursing System award and is passionate about unmedicated labor support, promoting vaginal deliveries and decreasing C-section rates.

Robert G. Mutch, DO, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN physician with more than 20 years of experience. He joined AdventHealth Medical Group from Bad Axe, Michigan, where he served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Robotic Surgery at McLaren Thumb Region hospital and was a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University and Central Michigan University for many years. An academic scholarship recipient and honors graduate of the University of Arizona, Dr. Mutch went on to earn his medical degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa. He then undertook his internship and OB/GYN residency training at Mt. Clemens Regional Hospital in Michigan. He and his wife are the proud parents of twins.

She received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She specializes in menopausal health, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, high-risk pregnancies, pediatric gynecology and vulvar disorders. Dr. Balint’s expertise has earned her the American Registry Patients’ Choice Award three years in a row, the American Registry Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award and the American Registry On-Time Physician Award.

She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Central Florida and went on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. Jessica is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and an experienced clinician, having served AdventHealth Labor & Delivery as a high-risk RN for more than five years. She is a committed patient educator and supports mothers and babies throughout pregnancy and delivery.

Kathryn Gottschalk, DO, is a highly experienced Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from John Carroll University in University Heights, OH, in 2011 and a doctorate from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA, in 2015. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Kissimmee, FL, and she previously completed her internship at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Gottschalk has contributed to a number of scholarly publications, is a board certified member of the American Osteopathic Association, and is a Junior Fellow in Practice and a board certified member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

She is a member of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Sean Clare, MD, is a board-certified gynecologic surgeon. After earning his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Kaiser Permanente/Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland, California. Dr. Clare specializes in minimally invasive surgery, high-risk pregnancy care and infertility treatments. He is fluent in Spanish and has lectured on women’s health topics to general practitioners and midwives in hospitals throughout Belize. He also enjoys martial arts and has earned a second-degree black belt in karate.

Jordan Skees, APRN, CNM, is a highly skilled and compassionate nursing professional and certified nurse-midwife. She is particularly passionate about supporting the normal, physiologic process of pregnancy, labor and birth, and assisting her patients with all of their health needs throughout their lifespan. Jordan is educated in the latest nursing and midwifery techniques and is experienced with a breadth of pregnancy and birth situations, including VBAC, VBA2C, Cesarean sections, vaginal twin delivery, ECV, ultrasound, and labor and delivery. Jordan believes in providing all possible support for each patient’s birth plan, no matter the level of intervention chosen, always keeping the health and wellness of mother and baby as her top priority.

Deborah Brown, APRN, CNM, received her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in nurse midwifery from East Carolina University. With more than 30 years of experience caring for women with both routine and high-risk pregnancies, Deborah has had the honor of delivering more than 2,000 babies. As a certified nurse-midwife, she has served as both a clinical director for labor and delivery and as a childbirth educator. Deborah collaborates with AdventHealth’s physicians to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to women and their families.

Stacy Butschek, MSN, CNM, APRN, has been providing safe, evidence-based nursing and midwifery care to women and families for over a decade. Stacy received her master’s in certified nurse-midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. She specializes in adolescent gynecology, family planning and birth control, fetal monitoring, labor and delivery, menopause management, menstrual disorders, midwifery care, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and routine and high-risk pregnancies. Stacy is also an active volunteer at a local church and a proud member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, as well as of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Scott Boone, MD, is part of AdventHealth Medical Group's academic OB-GYN practice at Loch Haven. He earned his medical degree on a full academic scholarship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida-Jacksonville. Prior to his training in Jacksonville, Dr. Boone undertook residency training in family practice at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Boone has previously served as a Chief Investigator for SE Clinical Research, involving multiple studies in the field of OB-GYN. He has also served as the OB-GYN department head of AdventHealth hospitals in Florida. Dr. Boone specializes in gynecologic ultrasound, hormonal therapy, difficult laparoscopic procedures and high-risk pregnancies.

Susan Rifai, MD, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She then earned her medical degree from the University of Florida college of Medicine and recently completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL. Dr. Rifai is involved in various professional associations, including the American College of Obstetrics Gynecology. Dr Rifai’s goal is to take care of women in all phases of life; helping them to navigate pivotal times in their lives including adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. She aims to make patients feel that they are being listened to and to provide up to date evidence-based care. She wishes to make her patients feel at peace when they leave their visit.

Dr. Sarah Cappleman is a board-certified OB/GYN and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. During her residency, Dr. Cappleman undertook special training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery and earned multiple awards for clinical excellence and medical teaching. In her current practice, Dr. Cappleman provides obstetrical care for low- and moderate-risk pregnancies along with preventive and complex gynecologic care such as annual exams, family planning and contraception, and laparoscopic surgical procedures for benign gynecologic conditions.

Andrea Messel, CNM, MS, CLC, is a certified nurse-midwife and certified lactation counselor. She has dedicated her expertise and compassion to the field of nursing since 1991 and possesses extensive skill in the areas of labor and delivery, along with neonatal intensive care. As a certified lactation counselor, Andrea helps expecting and new mothers understand a wonderful way to bond with and nourish their newborn babies.

Ashley Hill, MD, is a Medical Director of obstetrics and gynecology at AdventHealth Medical Group and Associate Director of the AdventHealth Graduate Medical Education Program’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Additionally, Dr. Hill is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UCF College of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. Dr. Hill specializes in abnormal uterine bleeding, treatment of uterine fibroids, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, normal and high-risk pregnancies, and ultrasonography. He particularly enjoys meeting and helping educate patients. He has published a number of papers in medical journals, is the Medical Director of the M.O.S.T. obstetrics simulation program, and serves on the SCOPE office safety program for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

He strongly believes in patient-centered, evidence-based, culturally sensitive care for every patient. Alexander has worked as a labor and delivery nurse and nurse supervisor in Florida for a decade. He provides intrapartum and postpartum care, low-risk and high-risk prenatal care, general gynecologic care and preconception counseling.

Dr. Xavier Román is a board-certified OB/GYN physician specializing in general and high-risk obstetrics; minimally invasive surgery; and adult and adolescent gynecology. A native of Puerto Rico, he was inspired to become a physician by his mother’s OB/GYN, who saved his life when he was born. He attended Florida State University on scholarship and earned his medical degree with clinical honors at Ponce Health Sciences University. He was later an award-winning resident at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. Dr. Román’s philosophy of patient care is “patients come first,” and what he finds most enjoyable about his job is being part of a baby’s delivery and seeing parents’ reactions from the first moment when they hold their child. He is fluent in English and a native Spanish speaker.

She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa and completed a residency and internship at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children in Orlando. Dr. Fritz has an extensive background in medical research, survey instrument creation and grant-proposal writing on topics like HIV and drug use, oxygenation of preterm babies and health education. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish and is passionate about helping women feel healthy and whole.

Nicole Jiménez, APRN, is a certified women’s health nurse practitioner and adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner who has been part of the AdventHealth family since 2013. She most recently served as a labor and delivery nurse at AdventHealth Celebration, earning four nominations for the Daisy Award for exceptional skill and compassionate care. She has completed both perinatal and critical care nurse internship programs and has basic proficiency in Spanish.

Mistee earned a Doctor of Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and graduated from East Carolina University with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing (with a concentration on midwifery). Before joining AdventHealth, Mistee was a certified nurse midwife and supervisor of maternity operations at Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services and offered midwifery services at the OB Hospitalist Group in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Subhia Rehman, MD, is an OB/GYN physician who joined AdventHealth Medical Group from Michigan State University's Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where she completed a rigorous obstetrics and gynecology residency. A native of Kashmir and graduate of the University of Bari and the University of Milan's medical school in Italy, she enjoys exploring different cultures and speaks five languages including English, Italian, Urdu, Hindi and Kashmiri. Dr. Rehman earned multiple scholarships while at the University of Milan and was honored multiple times with the Apple Award—a token of appreciation from nurses and patients – during her residency at Hurley Medical Center. She is also a recipient of 2019 Outstanding Resident in Gynecology Oncology by SGO and the 2019 Chief Resident award.

After receiving her medical degree at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, there she went on to complete an obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency. A highly experienced clinician, Dr. Hall has served as an OB/GYN since 2008. In 2020, she received the Physician of the Year award from Bailey Medical Center in Owasso, OK. Dr. Hall is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

When your baby is born, the hospital will require you to have a pediatrician chosen and scheduled before you leave. You're welcome to get to know our providers and ask questions before your baby arrives. It's important for you to feel comfortable with your pediatrician since they'll get to know your family well in your child's early years and beyond.

Our teams specialize in both routine and high-risk pregnancies, and our maternal-fetal medicine program combines specialized physicians, a network of office locations and a state-of-the-art, high-risk OB inpatient unit. Here, our patients also have access to a network of Level III and II neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), which can make a crucial difference when unexpected emergencies occur.
