The Baby Place at AdventHealth Gordon

At AdventHealth Gordon, The Baby Place is our newly renovated obstetric unit. We go above and beyond to make your family feel cared for and comfortable with special touches, including:

  • Private labor, delivery and recovery suites
  • In-suite amenities like flat-screen TVs, cable and free Wi-Fi, and overhead speakers with AUX hookups
  • Wireless fetal monitors that allow you to get out of bed during labor
  • Pull-out couches for overnight guests
  • Convenient visiting hours

Our team also offers exceptional health education and resources, including free childbirth and breastfeeding classes, certified lactation consultants and tours of The Baby Place for soon-to-be parents and big siblings.

The Region’s First Obstetric Emergency Department

A health emergency during pregnancy requires an extra-special level of care. Opened in July 2023, our brand-new obstetric emergency department (OBED) is an extension of our main emergency room and is staffed with experienced obstetric hospitalists. Our OBED offers immediate access to a specialist at all hours to treat pregnancy- and postpartum-related concerns like:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Bladder infections
  • Decreased fetal movement
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Labor checks
  • Preeclampsia
  • Preterm labor
  • Ruptured membranes

Your peace of mind is our priority. That’s why any pregnant patient can access our OBED 24/7 to see an obstetric hospitalist for any pregnancy- or postpartum-related concern. You don’t have to plan to deliver at The Baby Place or see one of our providers to visit our OBED.

Every baby born at AdventHealth Gordon is welcomed into the world by a highly skilled obstetric hospitalist. These experts are onsite at our hospital 24/7 to provide consistent, comprehensive, quality medical care to women who are pregnant or have just given birth. In addition to deliveries, they assist with any issues and emergencies that may arise.

Having a team of obstetric hospitalists to support you matters in more ways than one. Our hospitalists:

  • Evaluate and treat you, regardless of time, location, complication or circumstance
  • Evaluate labor progress, review test results and monitor fetal heart rate tracings
  • Offer consistent care in the hospital and the labor and delivery unit
  • Provide patients with a safe delivery and take care of any post-delivery issues, including obstetric emergencies

As part of the largest hospitalist provider group, our obstetric hospitalists are trained in obstetric hospitalist medicine best practices. They work alongside our entire hospital team, including your physician, medical and surgical consultants, discharge planners, social workers, clergy and other team members, to ensure your birth experience is smooth and supported.
